What Personal Data Do We Collect from You? 

We will ask for email address when you submit a story for publication. We will use that email address to contact you to inform you of annual royalties and if your work is selected for The Best of Book. If you wish to order copies of our books we ask for a snailmail address and telephone number, the latter so that the courier can reach you if need be.

We pay royalties via PayPal or bank transfer so at the point that we are ready to pay you we need your PayPal ID or bank details. Your email is deleted after that information has been processed.

You are invited to subscribe to monthly email form which you can unsubscribe at any moment. This tells you about our events, publications and gives general information about the performance of the magazine. Occasionally we send a “stop press” notice, for example if an event that was booked out suddenly has vacancies.            

Why Do We Capture Your Personal Data?

Product purchase: If you purchase one of our products, we need to know enough about you to fulfill your order. For example, we need your shipping address to be able to send you a physical product.

Newsletter sign-up: we need your email address in order to be able to send the letter to you.  We use a GDPR compliant mail server, Mail Chimp, for this.      

What is Our Legal Reason for Asking for Your Data?

In some countries, we must have a specific reason to ask you for – and to store and process – your personal data. Following is the legal reasons that we ask for your personal data.

Product purchase: We ask for your data as part of a legal contractual transaction.

We discourage you from supplying more personal information to be displayed on our site which can be viewed publically and we opt to edit out such information.  Of course, if you point our readers to your web site you may have contact information and other personal information there.     

How to Withdraw Your Consent

Regardless of the initial reason that you had for giving us your personal data, you can withdraw your consent at any time. To do this, you can click on the “unsubscribe” link in our email communications.

We may make changes to our privacy policy from time to time in order to comply with new laws or to meet the changing needs of our business. If we do this, we will post a notice on our website, 30 days before the new policy goes into effect.

If we receive a complaint, pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, related to content that you have submitted to the CaféLit website and we have published, we may be required to share your personal data with the copyright holder.
